Fibrosis is defined by an overgrowth and hardening or scaring of tissue, due to excessive deposition of extracellular matrix components.  This phenomenon is associated with a variety of diseases including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, hepatitis virus infection, progressive kidney disease, cardiovascular fibrosis and asthma.  There are no specific treatments for any fibrotic disease.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

IPF is a chronic, progressive and often fatal form of interstitial lung disease characterized by an abnormal accumulation of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts, and an exaggerated deposition of extracellular matrix with consequent distortion of lung architecture that often leads to respiratory failure and death.

Small Molecule Drugs to Treat Fibrosis

Veracity Biotechnology, LLC has developed proprietary methods that allow for the identification of drugs to treat IPF and other fibrotic diseases.  The search for those drugs is the principal focus of Veracity Biotechnology, LLC.
